AFFTA applauds Senate leadership for passage of Lands Bill
With the Senate overwhelmingly approving S.47, the Natural Resources Management Act, conservation advocates and bipartisan efforts have notched a huge win for public lands and waters in the United States.
“AFFTA has long stood by access to, and the conservation, restoration, and protection of, our public lands and waters,” said Ben Bulis, AFFTA President. “We applaud the Senate’s bipartisan support of the lands package, including the leadership of Senators Murkowski and Cantwell in sponsoring the bill, and the tireless work of Senators Tester and Daines, among many others who have championed the permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund and Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, which are both so critical to our industry.”
In addition to the LWCF and Yellowstone Gateway protections, there are 168 additional provisions in the bill that represent some of the most pressing public lands legislation across the country. The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
“This is a great day for our industry and the 10 million fly anglers that enjoy access to our nation’s public lands and waters. We urge the House to take up the bill quickly and follow the Senate’s lead ensuring the permanent protection of these immensely valuable programs and places.”
