Colin Cooney, Trout Unlimited’s Montana Field Coordinator, will Discuss the Threat of Mining on Montana’s Smith River

The Black Butte Mine, proposed by foreign-owned Tintina Resources Inc.,  has generated considerable controversy in Montana. The mine would be located in the Sheep Creek drainage, the primary tributary to the renowned Smith River.  The recent economic assessment done by the American Fly Fishing Trade Association and Southwick Associates, showed that the Smith creates 107 jobs. This is a sustainable resource that must be protected.
