We’re pleased to announce three more Fisheries Fund grants have been awarded. Read below to find out how these organizations are supporting and protecting our resources.

The Alaska Conservation Foundation’s (Sportsmen’s Alliance for Alaska) works to permanently end threats of drilling and mineral extraction in the Bristol Bay region. This grant will provide support for much-needed ongoing outreach to engage the fly fishing and broader sporting community in the campaign to protect Bristol Bay, Alaska from large-scale mining proposals such as the Pebble Mine.

Montana Trout Unlimited is working to spread the word about a proposed copper mine near the iconic Smith River fishery. The grant will help support efforts to halt the potentially hazardous mine, work to ensure development plans are scaled back and consistent with the semi-primitive recreational experience unique to the Smith, and help ensure any future Smith River development has conservation, protection and restoration as primary drivers.

The Henry’s Fork Foundation is the only organization whose sole purpose is to conserve, protect, and restore the unique fisheries, wildlife, and aesthetic qualities of the Henry’s Fork and its watershed. The grant will be used for water quality monitoring.

Thanks for your support of the AFFTA Fisheries Fund. We look forward to seeing more grant proposals come through the door in the new year, and to funding organizations and projects focused on fisheries conservation and organization.
